Biography

I was born in New York City where I went to Hunter College Elementary School until 3rd grade. I do not have too many memories of those years, but I remember that I had several good friends and I enjoyed living there

In 2000 my family moved to Hasting-on-Hudson in Westchester County where I was enrolled in the local public school, Hillside Elementary School. The first few years for me were hard, as I resisted making new friends and instead wanted to move back. After I completed 4th grade, I was enrolled in Farragut Middle School, where I remained until 8th grade. There I began making friends and school became better and better.

Currently I am attending Hastings High School, where I have just completed junior year. A small school with a graduating class of only 129 students, Hastings High provides a very strong sense of community and everybody seems to know everybody. While the course selection may not be great, the teachers are usually very good and are passionate about what they do teach. I have been lucky to have exceptional teachers in the subjects that I am interested in, such as math, the sciences, and history. I took AP Calculus in tenth grade and this year I took calculus II at Pace University. Next year I am planning on taking multi-variable calculus followed by differential equations. On the science side, I have taken several geology courses, AP chemistry, some physics, and not too much biology.

Outside of school, I am a member of the Varsity Tennis team and have been for the past two years. This past year we had an exceptionally good season and were league champions. I also play xylophone on my own time, and have been doing so for two years. For the past 4 years I have been participating in the Westchester Model United Nations Conference, which is hosted by my school. This year, as Secretary General, I will be running and organizing the conference. On a more academic note, I attend the Columbia Science Honors Program, a program designed for high school students to take introductory science courses at Columbia University for two and a half hours every Saturday; so far I have taken Relativity and Quantum Theory, Nanotechnology, Particle Physics, and Astronomy and I can say that for the most part the program has been very enjoyable. As a hobby, I enjoy tinkering with computers and technology and built my own computer in April of 2007, a back-breaking task that involved leaning over the case connecting cables and components for six or seven hours.

So here I am, starting my summer before senior year and facing the daunting task of applying for colleges. Hopefully a year from now I'll be finished with school, looking forward to college and have my full driver's license.
